CES 2025: The Hottest Tech Unveils and Nvidia’s Show-Stealing Performance

CES 2025: The Hottest Tech Unveils and Nvidia’s Show-Stealing Performance

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is back in full force in Las Vegas, delivering its signature cocktail of futuristic gadgets, gaming innovations, and tech spectacles. But when Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang took the stage—donning his iconic leather jacket—the room of tech enthusiasts felt more like a rock concert than a keynote. Here’s what you need to know.

The Nvidia Effect: From Superchips to Self-Driving Tech

Nvidia kicked things up a notch, revealing its GB10 AI superchip, billed as a game-changer for both AI and gaming. The company also announced a new series of GeForce RTX 50 GPUs, designed to dominate the next generation of computing. But the real crowd-pleaser? Huang’s prediction that robotics is about to have its “ChatGPT moment.”

The company also showed off its self-driving tech partnerships with major players like Toyota, and shares of Aurora Innovation, a collaborator on self-driving trucks, soared 29%. Meanwhile, fellow chipmaker Micron jumped 10% after Huang name-dropped its memory chips during the keynote.

Gadgets You Didn’t Know You Needed

CES wouldn’t be CES without head-turning (and occasionally head-scratching) gizmos. Here are a few standout reveals:

• Holoblox Mini: A device that creates a holographic miniature of yourself (perfect for the enemy who has everything).

• Electric Spoon: This AI-enhanced utensil convinces your taste buds that food is saltier than it really is—a potential game-changer for health-conscious foodies.

• Robovac with an Arm: Samsung unveiled a robot vacuum that not only cleans but also picks up dirty laundry.

AI Everywhere, Even in the Garden

From laptops and wearables to smart home devices, artificial intelligence was the common thread tying this year’s show together. And yes, there’s even an AI-powered gardening assistant that can monitor plant health and send updates directly to your phone.

With major announcements from Nvidia, Sony, and Samsung already making waves, CES 2025 has set the tone for a year of innovation, and it’s only just getting started..

Meta Adds Dana White to Board, Cuts Fact-Checking Amid Political Shift

Meta Platforms is making headlines again—this time for shaking up both its board of directors and its content policies. UFC CEO Dana White, a staunch Trump ally, is joining Meta’s board alongside former Microsoft exec Charlie Songhurst and Exor CEO John Elkann. At the same time, Meta announced it will replace third-party fact-checking with a user-driven “Community Notes” system.

A New Era for Meta’s Leadership

Mark Zuckerberg’s latest moves are seen as a strategic nod to the incoming Trump administration. White’s addition is especially notable—his friendship with Trump and massive influence in sports media could strengthen Meta’s conservative ties. Zuckerberg praised White for building UFC into a global powerhouse and hinted at plans to integrate more AI into sports content.

This isn’t White’s first splash in politics: he spoke at Trump’s election-night event and featured in the former president’s first TikTok video. The board shake-up underscores Zuckerberg’s continued effort to reshape Meta’s leadership, with 11 of its 13 directors joining since 2019.

Dismantling the Fact-Checkers

Zuckerberg also announced Meta will eliminate its third-party fact-checking program, shifting to a system similar to Elon Musk’s Community Notes on X. The rationale? To “restore free expression” and simplify policies after years of criticism over political bias.

The timing is no coincidence—Trump has accused Meta of censorship and has called the platform an “enemy of the people.” Meta’s decision to relocate its moderation teams from California to Texas further signals an attempt to rebuild trust with conservative users.

Despite concerns about misinformation, Zuckerberg believes this move will foster open debate. “If you can say it on TV, you should be able to say it on Facebook,” he said.

What’s Next for Meta

With AI innovation, wearables, and political content back in focus, Meta is positioning itself for a high-stakes 2025. However, critics warn that dropping fact-checking could invite more scrutiny as global misinformation remains a persistent challenge.

By stacking its board with Trump-friendly figures and overhauling content policies, Meta is betting big on free expression—but whether this gamble pays off remains to be seen.
